Domain Name Prices Rising Soon

Monday, May 24th, 2010

The primary administrator of .com domain names, Verisign, is raising its prices to wholesalers as of July 1, 2010. As a result, resellers like GoDaddy, 1and1.com and others will most likely be raising their prices as a result. You may be surprised to know that you are already paying close to or even under wholesale cost, as many registrars sell domains as a loss leader in order to secure your hosting, email and other add-on business.

Many resellers are renewing at current prices, so renewing your domain for multiple years can save you in the long run. In addition, search engines view long-term renewals as a sign of committment, so it may also improve your search engine placement. If Papyrus Document & Design, LLC handles your domain name renewal, and you would like us to renew for multiple years before the price increases, just let us know!
